Precision Agronomy - Blake O'Meagher

With a keen passion for new and emerging technology, Blake has always been at the forefront of seeing where new technological advancements can fit within the Ag Industry, and where they may help benefit farmers and industry professionals alike. After a trip to the US and the chance to speak with a few key industry professionals around drone use in agriculture, Blake later began to explore where utilising this technology can help yield a benefit to both industry professionals and farmers here in Australia.

With continual advancements in the technological space, Blake continues to maintain the necessary insight; exploring and developing the best possible benefits that these new (and existing) technologies can offer in Precision Ag.

Precision Technology - Ben Stewart

Ben runs his own Precision Ag business and contracts to Farmanco, after working for over three years on both John Deere and Case IH machinery dealerships.

 

Ben is based in Dunsborough but can travel to clients all over WA. He chose to start a business outside of a dealer for the flexibility to investigate and coordinate across the spectrum of precision ag products and services. He enjoys the additional information coming from the Farmanco agronomy and farm management team, which advances his work in the field.

Ben has a keen interest in simplifying operations for the operator and grower and likes to get in machinery seats occasionally to refine his strategies.

Precision Agronomy - Alice Butler

Alice Butler studied a Bachelor of Environmental Science at the University of Western Australia. During university she undertook two mining internships where GIS software was used for mapping important structures and vegetation. From these internships she developed an interest in spatial science and decided to volunteer with a GIS consultant based in Esperance.

​

In Esperance, she was exposed to Precision Agriculture (PA) through the grower group SEPWA and continued to work with the group on a PA project for two and a half years. After SEPWA, Alice moved to Albany for two years to work with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) on a graduate project which provided her with grounding in agronomy, specifically weeds, pests and diseases that affected growers along the south coast.

Alice now works part time with Farmanco in their Precision Agriculture team, as well as part time for DPIRD based in Perth.
